Temporary Foreign Workers
We are proud to participate in multiple foreign work initiatives, growing our team through the addition of skilled workers with diverse experience and backgrounds.
Maple Leaf Homes has been an approved LMIA employer since 2021, and is a Designated AIP employer. We currently have workers from these programs employed in multiple areas throughout our manufacturing process and we are passionate about continuing our participation in these programs in the future.
Programs We Participate In
Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
Skills Launch Immigrant and Refugee Employability Project
Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
Issued by Employment and Social Development Canada, the LMIA is a legal document that enables skilled workers to work in Canada if they meet the requirements of the position. The positive completion of a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) determines that there are no eligible Canadians or permanent residents seeking to fill the position for which the skilled person has applied. An LMIA is applied for by an employer, and a positive completion enables the skilled worker to apply for a work visa. A positive LMIA is employer, position and region specific. This means that a change in position, employer, or relocating to another Canadian region will require a new LMIA.
Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) aims to welcome eligible skilled and intermediate-level workers and their families to the Atlantic region of Eastern Canada. International graduates from Canadian institutions and their families are also included in AIP. This program paves the way to permanent residency for workers who want to work and live in Canada’s Atlantic Provinces; New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador.
Skills Launch Immigrant and Refugee Employability Project
The Multi Cultural Association and Working New Brunswick spearheaded the “Skills Launch” project to provide industry-specific orientation and training, and support work placement for newcomers to Canada. Workers begin with a 26-week contract as part of the Maple Leaf Homes team once their training is complete, with the aim of permanent employment once the 26-week contract term ends.
A Successful Past and Bright Future
Maple Leaf Homes has been fortunate with our involvement in temporary foreign worker programs with which we participate. Our participation has resulted in employee candidates of a high level of operational effectiveness, some of whom have grown with the company, securing permanent and supervisory roles.
Maple Leaf Homes has had great success in the diversity of hiring temporary foreign workers that are in Canada on open work permits, and as a designated employer, we are more than willing to help with the Permanent Residence process.
